Water Works Board lifts drought warning, water restrictions
June 03 2026
AUBURN, Ala.- The Water Works Board of the City of Auburn (AWWB) is lifting the Phase II Drought Warning and Phase I Drought Watch effective immediately. This action includes the removal of all drought-related water restrictions and usage surcharges that were in effect as part of the Phase II Drought Warning. No customers will be billed a drought surcharge for water usage overages that may have occurred during the May billing cycle.
During the month of May, Lake Ogletree, Auburn's primary water source, received 7" inches of rainfall. Due to this rainfall and the community's water conservation efforts, Lake Ogletree has been restored to nearly full capacity at an optimal water level. As such, the AWWB is lifting the Phase II Drought Warning as well as the Phase I Drought Watch.
The AWWB appreciates the cooperation of the community during this time and encourages its customers to continue to be water conscious moving forward. The AWWB will continue to monitor its water resources and weather conditions over the next several months to ensure that water levels remain at appropriate levels to continue to meet the water demands in the City of Auburn. Should you have any questions, please contact the Water Resource Management Department at (334) 501-3060.
